C2 CREATIVE

Hyperfocus was tasked with creating three educational training videos to teach facilitators of Adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). The three videos ranged from 15 to 30 minutes in length and had to be completed within a month's timeline.

The project posed some unique challenges for our team. First, we had to manage the project timeline carefully. Each of the three massive videos required it’s own script, visual treatment, storyboard, illustration, and animation phases. Proper project management was essential in ensuring each step was completed within a set timeframe.

The project presented us with another significant challenge - the workload to illustrate and animate three long-form videos was immense, even without the tight timeframe. To ensure that we could hit the goals we had to find a way to streamline our approach.

One solution we came up with was to simplify the design by using shapes to represent characters. By removing faces, arms, and legs from our animated characters, we were able to simplify the process without compromising on quality

Another challenge we faced was maintaining consistency across all three videos. We needed to ensure that the tone, style, and messaging were consistent across all three videos, despite each having its own unique script and visuals. This required a high level of attention to detail and collaboration between our animators, illustrators, and project managers.

Finally, given the sensitive nature of the topic, we had to ensure that the content was delivered in a kind and informative way that treated the characters in our videos as adults. It was essential for our content to not feel “kid-ish.”

Additionally, we strived to strike a balance between providing detailed information and keeping the audience engaged.

Like all of our projects, we followed The Hyperfocus Method and started with a storyboard.

When it comes to creating high-quality animations, the power of the storyboard, even as rough sketches, cannot be understated. These sketches serve as a crucial foundation for the final illustrations, allowing us to convey ideas, experiment with different layouts, and communicate the story before committing to the final design.

As we move into the illustration phase, we start to see our vision take shape. This phase requires a keen eye for detail, and our team works diligently to ensure that each illustration accurately reflects the script and storyboard. We also prioritized consistency across scenes, making sure that the style and color palette remains cohesive throughout all the videos.

FINISHING THE PROJECT

Despite these challenges, our team harnessed the power of animation and motion graphics to create a simple yet informative visual experience. Using “The Hyperfocus Method” we were able to ensure the message was on point while keeping C2 Creative involved throughout the entire process.
