SIMPLE MAN BEARD PRODUCTS

When “The Man Salon” launched a new line of beard care products, they knew they had to draw attention through a series of funny commercials that would highlight the benefits of their products. The message was simple - a beard without Simple Man's products could lead to a dry, itchy, and unpleasant experience.

In the world of motion design and animation, sometimes the client comes to us with a clear vision. The Man Salon was inspired by The Duluth Trading Company's comical commercials and asked Hyperfocus to bring their vision of "Desert Oasis" to life.

As artists at heart, we were excited to add our unique touch to the project. We started with a quick and rough storyboard, which is an essential tool for building a visual story and clearly communicating what we are working to create.

To make the project stand out, we explored various art styles beyond the initial inspiration of The Duluth Trading Company.

One of our sources of inspiration came from the music video "Got me a beard" by the Australian comedy folk rock band "The Beards." We found their art style to be playful, fun, and perfect for our ad campaign.

While we loved "The Beards" art style, our priority was to ensure the client's vision was reflected in the final product. As experts in motion design, we understand the importance of collaboration with our clients. That's why we utilized The Hyperfocus Method and developed two additional style frames for The Man Salon to choose from and provide feedback.

FINISHING THE PROJECT

After The Man Salon approved the illustration style, they opted to feature one of their owners as the voiceover for their animated commercial. With the audio track recorded, the ad was animated in Adobe After Effects.

The final results of the video were a hit with The Man Salon and their customers. The video has since been aired on broadcast TV, professional hockey games, and shared on social media.
